Artists of color. We see you, we hear you, and we would like to support more of you within the Belgian art scene. We are THE CONSTANT NOW, a new art space in Antwerp that raises diversity awareness through exhibitions. For young or underrepresented artists of color working in a variety of media and disciplines, we have a new coaching program: POC POC WHO'S THERE?
What we present is a set of training sessions with leading art professionals who will share artistic, conceptual and technical insights through online and offline consults, studio visits, talks, and discussions. The coaching will culminate in three public presentations in THE CONSTANT NOW's artspace in Antwerp between May and December 2022. POC POC WHO'S THERE? aims to empower new talents of color and launch them directly into the professional art circuit.
This year’s coaches are:
Helena Kritis, WIELS
Karen Van Godtsenhoven, UGent,
former MoMu and The Met
Kristof Vande Walle, Museum M
Marie Gomis-Trezise, NATAAL Media,
Galerie Number 8
Samuel Saelemakers, Kunst in de Stad/Middelheimmuseum
Sofia Dati, Beursschouwburg
Artists of color, working or living in Belgium,
aged 18 and older, can apply and submit their portfolio and cv before 11 February 2022 with the subject POC POC via hello@theconstantnow.com
The coaches will select ten candidates alongside THE CONSTANT NOW's artistic director, Magali Elali.
