Artists of Color
Are you an emerging visual artist of color under 35, living and working in Belgium? Do you want to push your creative boundaries, connect with like-minded peers, and access exclusive opportunities that can accelerate your career? POC POC 3 is a free, two-year mentorship program to help you achieve that.
Participants will showcase their work in group exhibitions at Kunsthal Mechelen and De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam and curate film screenings and panel discussions at De Cinema in Antwerp. This is a unique opportunity to grow, collaborate, and connect with leading art institutions across Belgium and beyond.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
About the Program
POC POC 3 supports 15 emerging visual artists of color from February 2025 to December 2026. Over 19 mandatory Friday sessions (10 AM – 1 PM) across Flanders, participants will engage in workshops, gain insider access to art institutions, and develop essential skills to navigate the art world.
Mentors
Renowned mentors lead the program, including Caroline Dumalin (MORPHO), Laura Nsengiyumva (Artist), Dennis Tyfus (Artist), Anne Wetsi Mpoma (Wetsi Gallery), and Magali Elali (The Constant Now).
These mentors will review applications to select 15 participants, ensuring a dynamic and diverse group. Throughout the program, they will provide personalized feedback, offer valuable advice, and share know-how to help each artist navigate their unique artistic journey.

Artistic director of MORPHO in Antwerp, an artist-centered organization providing studio spaces and facilitating residency exchanges locally and internationally. She focuses on developing programs and partnerships to create a supportive, collaborative environment for artists. Caroline also serves on the boards of Level Five in Brussels and Jester in Genk.

Based in Brussels, this artivist, architect, and researcher explores diasporic experiences, hidden histories, and North-South relations through her interdisciplinary practice. Projects like PeoPL and Queen Nikkolah contribute to her research on the presence of the African diaspora in Belgium. An artistic researcher at KASK, HOGENT, and Howest, she won first prize at Kunstsalon Ghent in 2011 and second at the Dakar Biennale in 2012.

An art historian, curator, and gallery owner, she proposes solutions to reinvent the arts for a more inclusive society. As the director and founder of Wetsi Gallery in Etterbeek (2019, asbl Nouveau Système Artistique), she builds bridges with diverse audiences by showcasing work from marginalized artists based on race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, and disability. Additionally, she offers decolonization training.
Belgian visual artist whose work finds its base in an unbridled drawing practice, a fondness of language, and a DIY attitude. The form in which his works appears is very diverse. His work is constantly on the move. Tyfus paints, sculpts, makes videos, performs, does a weekly improvised radio play, organizes events at De Nor (a sculpture he made with FVWW Architects at Middelheim Museum), does No Choice Tattoos and publishes artist records and editions on his label Ultra Eczema. Since 2020, Tyfus has been represented by Tim Van Laere Gallery.
An art historian and independent curator, she founded The Constant Now, a non-profit network promoting inclusivity in the art scene through exhibitions, talks, and projects, including POC POC, a mentoring program for emerging artists of color. Her practice emphasizes social change, empowering minorities, and representing counter-narratives, including the POC POC Manifesto. She collaborates with institutions like M HKA, NW Aalst, and S.M.A.K.

Who Can Apply?
We seek emerging visual artists of color under 35 who live and work in Belgium. Students are not eligible due to the program’s time demands. This opportunity is tailored for visual artists, including those working across multiple disciplines; however, musicians, actors, dancers, designers, and writers should explore other relevant programs.
Submit your portfolio and CV by November 15
The program is conducted in English, and all transportation costs and session fees are covered. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available.
Our mentors will choose 15 artists to form a diverse, inclusive group. Ensure your application is complete. You’ll be notified whether or not you’re selected for the program, but please note we cannot offer individual application feedback.
