Art. Community. Diversity.

The POC POC MANIFESTO comes to S.M.A.K. as a live conversation bringing together POC artists, curators, writers, and cultural professionals to speak openly about identity, language, artistic practice, labour, well-being, and community within the art field.

This talk does not present ready-made answers. Instead, it creates space where lived experience, professional practice, and institutional realities collide. The format is animated and participatory: panellists engage with one another, and the audience is actively invited to respond, question, and contribute.

Attending matters. These conversations rarely happen out loud. And even more rarely within institutions. The goal is not consensus, but meaningful exchanges and connections that unfold in real time.

The POC POC MANIFESTO began in 2024 as a closed conversation within The Constant Now’s POC POC mentoring programme and quickly evolved into an ongoing public series hosted by different institutions.

Each edition brings together new panellists and a new audience, while working with quotes from previous conversations that act as catalysts for discussion. In this way, the MANIFESTO remains a growing work in progress.

Previous editions took place at FOMU Antwerp, Kunsthal Gent, Cas-co Leuven, de Brakke Grond Amsterdam, and WORM Rotterdam.

The POC POC MANIFESTO is a live, travelling conversation. Not a fixed statement, but an evolving one. Don't miss out!
